“Panasonic” Company created artificial photosynthesis system that may clean air from carbon dioxide gas in large electro stations and litter burning plants.

According to information given by the company, this system is effective as living plants against carbon dioxide gas. Thus, the company showed his attitude to a global tendency connected with ecological requirements of technologies.

Metal-nitrids semi-conductors components and also the metal catalysts are applied in the system for transformation of light to the electric power.

Carbon dioxide is the main pollutant of the atmosphere. According to conclusion of a number of scientists, just it creates greenhouse effect. Artificial photosynthesis should simulate the chemical processes occurring in live trees which transform water and carbon dioxide to carbohydrates (for example, in sugar) under the influence of light. According to statement of “Panasonic”, transformation efficiency of carbon dioxide gas and water to formic acid was 0,2 % and this corresponds to efficiency of live plants.

The company plans to increase system to a commercial product limit, which could be used in industrial installations (for example, in electro stations and litter burning plants filled with plants of carbon dioxide gas).Connected with this system, the company had already received 18 patents in Japan and 11 patents in abroad.

According to lenta.ru, the system will be presented at the conference held on solar electro-energetic in Pasadena (California).
