International archeological conference on " Azerbaijan- uniting country of East and West" (at VII and IV millennium B.C.)" started its work by the joint organization of Embassy of Germany to our country, Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS and Institute of Archeology of Germany at the Museum of National History of Azerbaijan of ANAS.
Opening the conference director of Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS, doctor of technological sciences Maisa Rahimova noted that, investigation of archeological monuments had been carried out since the XIX century and as the result of intensive work of prominent archeologists of Azerbaijan this sphere has been developed significantly. She also mentioned experience exchange of the institute with the leading scientific centers of the world, scientific-investigation institutes. M.Rahimova spoke about newly published scientific works by the institute employees about archeological monuments of Azerbaijan; and about newly trained young archeologist scientists.
President of ANAS Mahmud Karimov highly appreciated such ceremonies held by the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography, and mentioned it as an integration of Azerbaijani history into world historical science.
Making a speech Ambassador of Germany to Azerbaijan Per Kristopher Stanichina and director of Eurasian Department of the Institute of Archeology of Germany Svend Hansen talked about the significance of such conferences for the scientists representing both countries.
Estimating the work of the international expedition in Garajamirli territory of Shamkir region in, consisting of the scientists of Azerbaijan, Germany and Georgia, as an estimable event, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Germany Gernot Erler stressed that, the archeological excavation was the beginning of the whole historical stage studying.
At the conference the scientists from Germany, USA, France and Turkey made speeches on the joint archeological expeditions carried out in Azerbaijan.
Later, agreement was signed between the Institute of Archeology and Ethnography of ANAS and the Institute of Archeology of Germany.
The conference lasts up to April 3.
