On February 23, 2007 in the Institute of Information Technology of ANAS the meeting with Fagan Ibrahimov - the system administrator and the coordinator of the information program of "Open Society" Institute of Soros Funds Network. The coordinator of the company GIPI (Global Internet Policy Initiative) in Azerbaijan Yashar Haciyev, and the head of the department of the institute PhD on technical sciences Firudin Agayev took part in the meeting.

It must be noted that it was not the first visit to the Institute by the representatives of Soros Fund. Before it meetings, seminars were held with other representatives of above mentioned organization in the direction of realizing the operation between the Fund and the Institute.

The main reason of the representative of the Soros Fund was to get acquainted with the work of the Institute.

Director of the Institute Doctor of Technical Sciences Rasim Alguliyev gave detailed information about the history and the activity of the Institute and also stressed that now in the institute highly qualified experts work in all the directions of information technologies. Doctor of Technical sciences R. Alguliyev noted that the majority of the experts working in the various organizations of the republic and in the foreign companies are from their Institute.

Giving Information about scientific-practical achievements of the Institute doctor of technical sciences R.Alguliyev emphasized that for the first time in the republic researches of global network technologies WAN was carried out in the Institute and real results were achieved. Rasim Alguliyev also noted that International network surrounding all the institutes, departments, and laboratories of ANAS has no analogue in the country and this network is used without a break.

Noting the interest of Soros Fund in the active participating in formation the information society of our country Fagan Ibrahimov emphasized that cooperation with ITI - playing an exclusive role in realizing the State Programs has great importance in forthcoming activities.

Later the attendees of the meeting stressed the importance of preparation of methodical aids about internet, bases of an information society in Azerbaijan and shared with opinion.

At the end F.Ibragimov visited the Educational Centre and got acquainted with the hardware of the institute.
